RIBE COMMUNITY LIBRARY

Community Library Launch

In 2024, Embrace Leadership International, in partnership with Evergreen Christian Community, Highland Church, and Montesano Assembly of God (USA), celebrated the launch of the first-ever community library in Ribe, Kenya. This milestone marked a significant moment for the Ribe community—ushering in a new era of educational and spiritual empowerment.

The library was established in response to a long-standing need for accessible learning resources and digital tools in the region. For years, the Ribe community had limited access to books and virtually no access to computers. The launch of the library changed that. It became a beacon of hope, filled with a wide range of donated books and newly installed computers, opening doors to a world of knowledge, imagination, and opportunity.

Beyond being a center for reading, the library has become a space for growth. High school graduates and young adults now have the opportunity to learn computer skills that are essential for both higher education and the job market. Digital literacy classes are being introduced, creating new career pathways and bridging the technology gap in the community.

The library also serves as a quiet, structured place for students to study—something many didn’t have access to at home. For the broader community, it doubles as a gathering space for meetings, mentorship sessions, and social connection. It is a hub where knowledge, creativity, faith, and fellowship meet.

What makes this project even more special is the deep involvement of the community in its construction. From painting and organizing books to helping with final touches, the people of Ribe worked hand-in-hand with missionaries and volunteers, taking ownership and pride in what they were building. Each stamped book, every painted wall, and the carefully arranged shelves stand as symbols of unity, shared purpose, and transformation.

The Ribe Community Library is more than just a building—it is a legacy. It stands as a testament to what can be achieved when communities come together with vision, faith, and love. This space will continue to serve generations, equipping them with the tools they need to dream, learn, and lead.
